Before disclosing, always ask about possible consequences and confidentiality. Professionals’ responses will vary depending on who you are talking to and the policies of states and institutions. Some disclosures could initiate an investigation, whether or not you want that.

Your options include:

• Contact the Dean of Students.
• Contact a Title IX-responsible faculty or staff member.
• Contact the student health center or counseling center.
• Contact victim advocates, if your campus has them.
• Search your college or university website for information on reporting sexual assault or seeking other relevant professional services.
